Our wedding and monkey buffets
Howdy!
It’s our wedding anniversary today. (Happy anniversary, Pepper! I love you.) That picture is us at a party after the ceremony with an Elvis impersonator. I specify that it’s an impersonator because the resemblance is deepfake uncanny and I don’t want you to think we actually got to meet Elvis.
In this episode, we start with squirrels and a filthy Jack Hanna, move on to monkeys, and end with a discussion of our weird wedding. I read an article about how covid has created problems for monkeys, and it mentioned a Monkey Buffet Festival. Monkeys and buffets are two things that Pepper Proxy has a pretty strong reaction to, so I was curious how she would react to a monkey buffet.
And, even though we didn’t talk about it in the podcast, I put a clip of bear cubs eating apples at the bottom of this newsletter. They sort of bear-purr as they eat the apples, so turn the sound up. I found it really relaxing…

Here are a couple of pictures of the Monkey Buffet Festival. It’s going to go on again this year, but they are going to put hand sanitizer and sneeze guards out for the monkeys. At least, I’m assuming they are.
Here’s a picture of one of the weaker monkeys cast out from the monkey army clinging to the back of an employee at the garage across the street from the monkey temple.
We have a squirrel/pumpkin buffet in our backyard every year. Here are a few pictures.
A video of purring bear cubs eating apples is the perfect stress reliever at the end of this crazy week.
